Hope I don’t jinx myself…. when I travel I have great luck meeting people. Often, too good. When I want to enjoy a majestic site quietly by myself, a kindhearted local starts telling me everything he knows about it. Its great there’s so many nice people out there…but then again, did I ask you? Please just leave me alone occasionally… My last trip I specifically accepted every offer & I ended up having the best time ever. But that was South Africa & their culture is lot like mine. More importantly, they’re not desperate to leave their country. It’s easier to trust someone when you’re pretty sure they don’t want anything from you. Yesterday I had my first marriage proposal… I’m a little worried I’m loosing it since it took so long but then again I’ve been wearing a wedding ring…. Either way, I know it’s not about me but that man’s desperation to get out of his current situation. (I’ll go on another time about ALL the local women with dirty old fat white men.) Yesterday I also had a local man invite me to a birthday party tonight. I already said no but now I’m wondering if maybe a cultural bias might keep from having a fun experience… Tags: Thailand locals |

I’m safe & sound in Thailand. However I’m having a harder than normal time adjusting to the time change. I know better than to sleep the first day but I arrived at 3am & so a nap seemed ok… but I messed up setting the alarm & woke up at 5pm. Now I keep waking up around 2am everyday. I didn’t do a lot in Bangkok, mostly running errands, searching out a few different supplies. I didn’t find them all, I may go back & try again, but I was AMAZED at all the things from home that I did find… of course McDonalds, even saw a sign for one that delivers! But also Outback Restaurant, North Face & most importantly a department store that carries all my makeup! Fhew. Yesterday I traveled to Hua Hin, it’s this gorgeous little beach city where the King used to summer. I’m staying at this cute traditional Thai teak guest house that is across the street from the beach where I’m off to find the perfect place to hang my hammock & sip my litchi fruit drink… Tags: Thailand |
