Borneo... where as recently as 1998 they were headhunting!! To quote Lonely Planet: I'm still researching the sites & my route... start in Banjarmasin with its stilted & floating houses... next to the orangutans... but it looks like the road there isn't finished... maybe there's a boat?? Dugout canoes & bamboo rafts seem to be common transport... Either way, then I'll meander north up the coast to the other big city where I'll take a ferry off the island... To really explore the island’s magic, you need a budget way larger than mine, but I’m willing to bust the bank a bit. Besides, honestly, this is one of those places that will be so much fun mentioning I went there... if it turns out to be a disappointment, it'll still be worth the $28 flight!!
