India will always be my first love. But there's lots to hate about the place. Lots! Like most Westerners, it's a love/hate relationship between India & me. But it's those constant highest of highs & lowest of lows that makes it so wildly fascinating. But Sri Lanka... is great all-around, however, the emotions more temperate. Everything I love about India is in Sri Lanka... just not quite as fantastic. The people are extremely friendly but unlike India, not so friendly it's almost frightening. All the colors are here but slightly more subdued. Religious art is all around but not everywhere. Sri Lanka's not an expensive country but everything is more expensive than India. And on the good side, unlike India, the beggars, the con-artists & sexually deprived men all less aggressive in Sri Lanka. So far, Sri Lanka gets two thumbs up but the real deal is still India.
