I'm rushing thru Sri Lanka. That's not my style. Don't like. But can't seem to stop it. Somewhat feel pressured. Seems I'm the only tourist in the country taking buses - the other tourists (though there's not many right now) have their own car & driver & they drive to 2 or 3 different sights in one day. So when the townsfolk ask how long I'm gonna stay & tell them 2 or 3 nights, they seem so surprised & almost talk me outta it. Also the sights aren't designed for lingering. Every site costs $10-20 to enter. (They do a have a discounted all inclusive ticket for $50 which saves some money but it doesn't actually include everything. Already had spend an extra $20.) So anyway, these tickets are only good for one day. Had a wonderful day today riding around a World Heritage Site on a bicycle & would love to spend another day doing it, but that would cost $20 for another ticket. (Ok, and the ride wasn't that lovely... the men are starting to get to me... at least a dozen pulled up next to me on motorcycles trying to chat me up & a few ran me off the road. Was also run off the road by 2 trucks.) Thought I'd spend 3 nights in this city, but instead, moving on tomorrow. Was worried a month wouldn't be long enough to see everything. But it's going be too much. Already have a ticket to India but maybe I can get it changed. Otherwise I'll just have to hang at the beaches for a long time after I'm done with all the cultural sights.
